About Dr. Sam Reif

PhD, Licensed Clinical Psychologist

I believe therapy should work like a good coaching relationship—we will start in a didactic fashion, and then I will gradually step back as you gain confidence and skill. Since 1997, I’ve helped clients break free from anxiety and OCD using evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). My approach combines Harvard-trained expertise with a warm, conversational style that feels like a catch-up with an old friend.

You might occasionally spot my two Cavapoos in the background during our online sessions – yes, they’ve appointed themselves as my unofficial therapy assistants! While they may think they’re running the practice, I assure you I’m the one with the PhD from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and advanced training from Harvard/Massachusetts General Hospital and The University of Chicago Hospitals.

Whether you’re dealing with persistent worry, OCD, or health-related anxiety, I’ll teach you practical strategies that work in real life, not just in the therapy space.

How can I access patient forms?

To access patient forms, please visit the ‘Patient Forms’ section on our website. You can easily download and fill out the necessary forms. You can also request that the forms be emailed to you for completion online.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes! I provide secure virtual therapy sessions for clients throughout California and Illinois. Online sessions offer the same evidence-based treatment as in-person visits, with added convenience and flexibility.

Do you take insurance?

I don’t bill insurance directly, but I provide detailed superbills with all necessary codes that you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement.

I apply the science of psychology to real life in a way that empowers my clients to turn chaos into clarity. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) looks at how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors work together to influence your wellbeing.

We’ll use proven techniques to address the thought patterns (“Everyone will judge my presentation”), physical sensations (racing heart), and behaviors (over-preparing) that maintain that anxiety.
